Are the cams shown here the same?
They are by the 'numbers'!

Cams A, B, C shown
above all have the same lift as shown at L, and duration shown at D. Yet
they are obviously very different. If Cam B is correct in design, then
Cam A would give good low end but less horsepower and float the valves
more easily. Cam C would give plenty of top end but would exhibit a
narrow powerband and open the valves too rapidly for good reliability.
The Numbers will
also vary drastically depending on the lift at which the figures are
recorded. In all, it is nearly impossible to compare or evaluate cams by
the 'numbers' only.
